    DVD camcorders encode into mpeg and burn onto DVD in real time. Knowing that, and the fact that they are marketed towards the bottom end of the consumer camcorder market (I saw ads in vogue magazine), I can only assume they are shit.

    yes, the quality of video captured on dvd cameras is far below that of miniDV.
